On May 21, the French Honor Society (FHS) hosted an induction ceremony for the incoming members of the club during eighth period.

Various sweets and refreshments welcomed the new and current members as certificates and roses were distributed to each selected student. To be members of FHS, the selected students were required to submit an application that asked for their vision for the club and their interest in France and the Francophone culture. Only the students enrolled in French were considered for selection.

“We hope that our new members can add to their appreciation of French culture by participating in FHS,” junior Alec Jessar, the president of FHS, said. “We want to provide a fun, relaxed environment for French activities so that all of our members have a place to unwind at the end of the day and do something they enjoy.”

The current members of FHS hope to broaden the range of activities and events the club will conduct in the future.

“I would like to have more activities other than I-Nite and J-Day,” sophomore Asha Krishnakumar said. “I would like to add more French-related activities, such as more games and activities that involve people outside of FHS.”

The club is currently organizing its upcoming club Potluck, which will be held on May 30. The members of the club hope to familiarize themselves with one another through the event.

“I wanted to join FHS, because I wanted to expand my knowledge of the French language,” Krishnakumar said. “I also wanted to learn more about the French culture and meet new people.”
