Located in the college town of Charlottesville, VA, the University of Virginia (UVA) is one of the best in-state schools for Virginia. With five colleges for undergraduates to major in and access to major between colleges, the University of Virginia is a good fit for any student, whether they are certain about a career or currently uncertain about their future. The five undergraduate colleges include the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Nursing, the School of Architecture and the Kinesiology Program.

During the information session, the representative discussed the application and admission processes. She mentioned that the University of Virginia looks first and foremost at the courses that a student has taken, hoping that the student has challenged him or herself. Afterwards, they will look at a students high school profile, a transcript, and the recommendations and essays that show who a student is beyond the data. The representative assured students that there is no grade point average (GPA) cut off that they use to determine which students are accepted to their school.

In addition, the representative spoke about the courses offered at the University of Virginia. She said that although there are five colleges, students are able to major and take classes between colleges. There are also pre-professional tracks available to students who wish to pursue a graduate degree after their undergraduate study and students have the ability to wait until the beginning of their junior year to declare their major.

The final part of the presentation was dedicated to discussing the school’s student life. At the University of Virginia there is an incredible amount of activities available to all undergraduate students. Moreover, there are always events and games occurring on campus for students take part in. Overall, there is a constant feeling of life on campus as students are always involved in one thing or another throughout the year.

The University of Virginia is a definitely one of the best schools that will provide Jefferson students with in-state tuition. If you think that the University of Virginia is the place for you, the representative urges you to apply and remember that the acceptance rate for in state students is higher than that of the out of state students. Whether you are locked in on a job that you’ve wanted since you were little, or still uncertain as to what you want to do after college, the University of Virginia offers you what you need with your education.
