Six Jefferson students named 2015 Intel Science Talent Search semifinalists

The 300 semifinalists of the Intel Student Talent Search (STS) have been announced on Jan. 7.

On Jan. 7, 300 seminfinalists out of over 1800 applicants for the 2015 Intel Science Talent Search (STS) competition were announced.

Seniors Tim Cha, Pooja Chandrashekar, Edi Danalache, Lucas Lin, Shreya Nandi and Richard Oh are among the 20 projects that were entered from Jefferson.

The Society for Science & the Public (SSP), a nonprofit organization
sponsored by the Intel Foundation, will grant $1,000 to each semifinalist, as well as an additional $1,000 to the school for every semifinalist. The prestigious competition provides an opportunity for high school seniors to conduct advanced scientific research and awards those who exhibit innovation.

The 40 finalists will be announced on Jan. 21 and have the opportunity to travel to the Intel Science Talent Institute, located in Washington, D.C., for an opportunity to win the top nine awards. The competition will be held from March 5-11.
