Congratulations to TJ Debate for capturing the VHSL State title for the third year in a row. Particular kudos go to Student Congress first place winner senior Victoria Bevard and Policy Debate juniors Gulnaz Sayed and Zulekha Tasneem for placing first and Ankit Agrawal and Sean Ji placing second in their division. Also contributing points to the overall winning total were juniors Naman Baraya in Lincoln Douglas, sophomores Sophia Pentakalos and Vivian Lin in Public Forum; and senior Sharon Liu and freshmen Manu Onteeru, Medha Gupta, and Aditya Kumar in Student Congress. Coaches Marie Bakke, Alex Lennon, and Jennifer Seavey are very proud of this group.
Congratulations to the members of the TJ Aerospace Initiative for capturing 2 championships at the annual Battle of the Rockets. TJ won the High School Target Altitude and Planetary Lander Kit competitions.
Congratulations to the Colonial Robotics team who competed in the Mid-Atlantic underwater remotely operated vehicle competition last weekend.
Techstravaganza 2017 volunteer signups are now open! Techstrav will be on Saturday, May 20th, from 10-4pm at TJ. Sign up to help out with a day full of exciting hands-on science experiments and fascinating exhibits hosted by TJ’s STEM clubs, and represent our TJ community! We are offering community service hours, NHS hours, and EXTRA CREDIT for certain STEM classes. Extra credit (plus a free slice of pizza) is offered to only those who sign up for two or more shifts!
