An issue with the fire alarm during the fire drill on March 26 at 2:30 p.m. caused an evacuation of the Jefferson school building that lasted until 3:40 p.m. The issue was eventually resolved by fire marshal technicians.

Vehicles were not allowed to enter the campus during that time.

“At 3:40 p.m. the fire alarm was cleared and all staff and students were admitted to the building. We appreciate local fire marshal technicians who assisted with resetting the system. We will dismiss school at the usual time at 4:00 p.m. Passenger vehicles are now permitted to come on campus.  Thank you for your understanding and patience,” An email from the principal’s office to parents said.

The incident interfered with several tests, including a Math 3 test.

“We were given around 15 minutes for the calculator section [of the test],” freshman Pearson Frank said. “We all failed. They might curve or something.”

Freshman Jonathan Lee was taking a CPR test when the alarm sounded. The test was cancelled. However, being outside was a positive experience for him.

“I just talked with friends and enjoyed the weather,” Lee said.
