Continuing COVID-19 updates

As the situation develops, FCPS continues to update on measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19

All June SAT’s taking place in FCPS are cancelled.

Gov. Ralph Northam has closed all Virginia schools for the rest of the academic year.

The College Board has canceled the May 2 administration of the SAT, and March 14 makeups scheduled for March 28 are also canceled.

The ACT has postponed April 4 administration to June 13.

All FCPS buildings are closed until further notice. Since buildings are closed, the session for students to retrieve their belongings and receive laptops that was previously scheduled for tomorrow, March 16, is canceled.

Grab and go food distribution centers will now be held at 18 locations around the county.

Fairfax County Public Schools confirmed the first FCPS-related COVID-19 case as a staff member from Lynbrook Elementary School on March 14.

All Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed through April 10, 2020.

Gov. Northam has ordered all state K-12 schools to be closed for at least two weeks, until March 27.

Prince William County Public Schools will be closed until April 14.

Arlington County Public schools has closed until April 14.

Fairfax County Public Schools has made the decision to close all schools on March 13, 2020. March 16 remains a teacher workday to prepare for long-distance learning.

Starting March 14, all extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, and after-school programs have been cancelled until April 12.

SAT administration for March 14, 2020 in FCPS locations have also been cancelled.

Fairfax County Public Schools has made the decision to cancel all extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, and after school programs until April 12. All field trips are cancelled until April 12 as well.

Loudoun County Public Schools has closed through March 20 in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

March 11 Updates

All overnight field trips in and out of state are cancelled through April 12, Fairfax County announced on March 10.  All trips to New York are cancelled as well, which includes day trips.

HackTJ also announced that the event is cancelled for this school year, and that they are working on the possibility of a new date sometime in the fall or winter of next year.

As a precaution for the possibility of school closings because of COVID-19, FCPS made the decision to close schools on Monday, March 16 to prepare for online or distance teaching situations.

This follows announcements that all international trips and exchange programs are cancelled as well.
