Criminal Minds (Netflix, 12 seasons, Crime Drama)
This detective show follows the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI to solve serial murder cases across the nation. Each episode features a different mystery and showcases the members’ race against time to find the murderer and save the victims. The team catches its criminals not only by relying on their deductive skills and evidence from the crime scenes but also by “profiling” their suspects’ behavior and characteristics.
Haikyuu!! (Netflix/Crunchyroll, 3 seasons, Sports Anime)
Volleyball is a sport dominated by height, but Hinata Shouyo stands determined at 5’4” to conquer the court. Inspired by seeing a national volleyball game on TV in elementary school and spurred on by a stunning defeat is his first and only game in middle school, Hinata gains a love for the sport and joins Karasuno High School’s volleyball club. Haikyuu!! follows Hinata and his fellow team members as they overcome struggles to fly high on the court.

On My Block (Netflix, 3 seasons, Comedy-drama)
A combination of originality, unpredictableness, and comedy makes “On My Block” the perfect show to binge-watch. Taking place in a Hispanic and African American community in Los Angeles, California, four friends Monse, Cesar, Ruby, and Jamal work their way through high-school with the added problems of gang rivalries, relationships, and trauma.

In Eleanor Shellstrop’s universe, humans acquire positive or negative point values based on their actions in life. In order to stay in The Good Place, she convinces her soulmate Chidi Anagonye, former ethics and moral philosophy professor, to teach her how to be “good.”

“Detective” Shawn Spencer uses skills learned from his detective father when he was young to join the Santa Barbara Police Department with his partner Gus under the guise of a psychic. This light-hearted comedy is fun to watch with family and bound to leave you singing along to the iconic theme song by the end of the first season.
How I Met Your Mother (Hulu, 9 seasons, Sitcom/Romantic-comedy)
A story for his children, older Ted shares his past quest of how he met their mother in a series of voice-overs and flashbacks. Contemporary, stylish, and successful, a parallel is drawn between the characters and the show itself. This feminist-empowered show encapsulates the lives of best-friends, Kat, Jane, and Sutton working at Scarlet Magazine respectively as the head of Social Media, a writer, and an assistant. It captures their lives as three young women balancing work and relationships in New York, all the while trying to find themselves.
