Bus Drivers of TJ: Creating a Positive Environment

Sean Nguyen, Broadcast

FCPS possesses a fleet of 1,630 school buses maintained by the Department of Vehicle Services and employs 1,200 bus drivers. One of which is Rosa Smith, an Arlington bus driver for Williamsburg Middle School and TJHSST. Starting her workday at 5 in the morning, she drives her TJ passengers one hour to school and one hour back home. She goes above and beyond the responsibilities of a bus driver through her kind gestures: greeting students, giving small gifts/snacks, and being a positive presence. Two of her student passengers, junior Anuj Khemka and junior Alexandra Fall, share the impact of Ms. Rosa on their personal well-being.
