At the Peaceful Fields Sanctuary, freshman Sita Lamartin helps care for various rescued animals by replacing straw in their beds. “[The sanctuary] will take in farm animals and rescue them, such as a turkey that wasn’t rounded up for Thanksgiving or a cow that escaped from a dairy form. When I hear their stories, my heart breaks, but I love forming friendships with the animals,” Lamartin said. “Every animal has their own personality. The other day, one of the goats thought my finger was food.”

From humble beginnings, sophomore Aliana Szeto has been participating in gymnastics for as long as she can remember. “I started gymnastics with the toddler classes when I was five years old and joined a competitive team at eight,” Szeto said. “Since then, I’ve kept competing, so around 18 hours a week.” While all this hard work and dedication is geared towards performing well at competitions, there’s other aspects of the sport that keep Sezto going. “I’m competing at level eight right now and hoping to make it to regionals,” Szeto said. “I’ve met a lot of really nice and supportive people through gymnastics. I also love getting to try new things and pushing my body to see how far it can go.”
