Principal Ann Bonitatibus announced her departure from Jefferson in an email to parents and students today. After seven years in her role as principal, Bonitatibus has accepted a new role as the Executive Director of Talent Acquisition and Management in the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Department of Human Resources. “I will most likely remain at [Jefferson] for at least a few more weeks,” Bonitatibus said in the announcement.
“In the coming weeks, the FCPS Chief of Schools, Dr. Geovanny Ponce, will connect with the [Jefferson] faculty, staff, students, parents and broader community to share next steps for the principal selection process, along with a timeline for my transition and leadership continuity for the school,” Bonitatibus said.
Bonitatibus first joined Jefferson as a principal in the 2017-2018 school year. Prior to working at Jefferson, Bonitatibus served as superintendent of Conejo Valley Unified School District, chief operating officer for Frederick County Public Schools, principal at New Market Middle School, and Catoctin High School and vice principal of two schools. She previously taught English and math for eight years.
“Always remember, you are more than [a] GPA and [Jefferson] faculty and staff are your GPS,” Bonitatibus said. “We have all shared an unwavering commitment to educational excellence. I consider my time with you a privilege and an honor.”
