Chase Atlantic’s new album, “LOST IN HEAVEN,” was an exciting drop for fans. “LOST IN HEAVEN” is their fourth album in seven years along with their many EP’s. After long anticipation, the album was released on Nov. 1.
The first song in their new album was “MAMACITA,” released on Sept. 26, 2023. Many fans speculated about the album but it was officially confirmed by the band this Sept. Many songs in their new album like, “DEMON TIME” and “FAVELA,” were performed at concerts before the album was released as an exciting sneak peek to the full album.
“LOST IN HEAVEN” opens with “FAVELA” as an exotic and exhilarating opening to the album that sets the tone for the rest of the tracklist. “FAVELA” is used as a metaphor to represent a place where one can enjoy life without constraints or restriction and because of this, many lyrics seem as though the speaker supports and indulges in drugs and lives a chaotic lifestyle. The underlying tone is how they search for something meaningful and fulfilling amidst the illusion of pleasure from artificial sources. This leads up to the next track and also the lead single of the album, “DIE FOR ME.”
As the lead single, “DIE FORME” is the most well-streamed song of the album as it has been played over 26 million times since its release on Aug. 23. The song never actually says the phrase, “Die for me,” in any of the lyrics which is one of the features that make Chase Atlantic songs so interesting. This song has also gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The most popular sound under “DIE FOR ME” has over 56 thousand posts under it on TikTok, promoting Chase Atlantic and hyping up the new album.
The third song on the album is “RICOCHET,” which is definitely a fan favorite. The musical opening for “RICOCHET” transports the listener into a whole new world with its impressive instrumentals. The wordplay and the satisfying musical instruments together all make “RICOCHET,” unique and unlike other songs in “LOST IN HEAVEN.” It is by far my favorite song of the album as the lyrics and instrumental give a nostalgic flashback to Chase Atlantic’s old songs, making it intoxicating to listen to.
Another nostalgic song on the album is “DEMON TIME,” a song based on the anime “Demon Slayer” and includes lyrics like “Look, yeah, I got two blades chained to me” and “I’m filled up with trauma from a second life,” which correlates to the main character of “Demon Slayer,” Tanjiro Kamoda, as he has trauma from his family dying and references to the anime’s main premise which is to kill demons. “DEMON TIME” is Chase Atlantic’s third song based on an anime.
Chase Atlantic have been working on “LOST IN HEAVEN” since February and have taken fans on an exciting adventure with interesting wordplay and new instrumentals that make their music interesting and unlike other bands and artists. If you’re looking for an electric and mesmerizing tracklist, “LOST IN HEAVEN,” is the perfect album for you.
