As we slip out of the holiday season, Brawl Stars’ last update aimed to blend festive cheer with competitive gameplay. The big theme of this update is a collaboration with Disney Pixar’s Toy Story, introducing a new powerful Brawler, Buzz Lightyear, along with two others, Ollie and Meeple.
Although many are upset that one of our newest Brawlers, Buzz Lightyear, is only going to be temporary, considering we usually only get two every once in a while, this update is bringing lots to the table. Buzz Lightyear is available from December 12th, 2024, to February 4th, 2025, and comes with three play modes—Laser Mode, Saber Mode, and Wing Mode along with the introduction of a tank type and skate border Brawler Ollie and a controller, Meeple.
The game also introduces Toy Story-themed skins for existing Brawlers, like Woody Colt, Bibi Bo Peep and Jessie jessie. Furthermore, the addition of new game modes like Brawl Hockey and Special Delivery new mechanics to beloved game modes like new two vs. two spins on old classic three vs. three game modes..
The Pizza Planet event kicks off on January 2nd, 2025. Players can collect Pizza Slices by taking part in various game modes and completing daily challenges. While the play is fun, it also involves plenty of free rewards that wouldn’t be available without pay, like collecting slices to unlock cosmetics exclusive to Toy Story.
The annual Brawlidays celebration returned for 13 days starting December 12th, 2024, offering daily rewards. On top of the free rewards the Mega Tree temporarily replaced the Mega Pig spicing up the game even more. Additionally, six new Hypercharges have been added, providing temporary stat boosts to enhance your Brawlers’ performance.
On the theme of skin releases, the holiday-themed offerings like the skins Ho Ho Ho Bo and Logmas Spike bring seasonal flair, but along with skins the many temporary aspects of this newest update forces players to play as much as they can before the season ends and they lose the opportunity for cosmetics and other rewards.
Lastly, revisiting the introduction of Ollie and Meeple as both new Brawlers are intriguing. Ollie, the skater kid with a hoverboard, adds flair by forcing enemies to dance while stunning them. Meeple, the game rules master, is an interesting addition, a niche character that’s unique abilities make the game even more strategic.
Brawl Stars’ December 2024 updates aim to engage the holiday spirit, while bringing back old classics and introducing amazing new aspects. Though this update is made up of mostly temporary aspects it introduces plenty of fun to be had during the winter season. If you’re looking to kill time during the holidays or level up your gameplay then, even though it doesn’t add any groundbreaking permanent changes then this is the game for you.
