The Kansas City Chiefs, the two-time reigning champions of the past two Super Bowls, are trying to create history with a three peat for this year’s 2025 Super Bowl. But they’re going against an unstoppable force weaving their way through the post season: the Philadelphia Eagles. The playoffs can be described as nothing short of absolutely crazy; we’ve seen the Washington Commanders, the sixth seed, take down the number one National Football Conference (NFC) seed, the Detroit Lions, without any issues. Additionally, the American Football Conference (AFC) gets overtaken by the number one seed, the Kansas Chiefs yet again, with an impressive record of 17-2. But surprisingly, the Philadelphia Eagles have had another breakout season with the league’s best defense and a place in the top ten offenses. Who will win this Super Bowl? The clear answer is the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to ESPN statistics, the Eagles have the best defense as well as most leading rushing yards in the league because of MVP and Offensive Player of the Year candidate, Saquon Barkley, for the 2024-2025 regular season. To these impressive feats, they have outstanding defensive Pro-Bowl linebacker Zack Baun with a total of 151 tackles and Jalen Carter, a Pro-Bowl Defensive tackle that leads the amount of pressure defensively to opposing teams on offense.
I believe with one of the best offenses in the league as well as top defense, that’s all they need to win against the Kansas City Chiefs. The best defense will always prevail as the best offense, and I think that if the Eagles really want this win, they’re going to need to make sure the defense is playing at their best, just like how they did against the Washington Commanders during the NFC Championship game on Jan 26. They had an astonishingly forced three fumbles, an interception against Washington Commanders Quarterback Jaden Daniels and multiple stops on third down conversions.
With that being said, the Chiefs are no easy team to just blow out. According to Pro Football reference, the Chiefs have history-making leader Patrick Mahomes as a heavily experienced quarterback, which has led to their Super Bowl wins two years consecutively. He’s the franchise’s all-time passing leader and has an overall amazing ability to run the ball to get through pressures. Defensively, they are among the top ten defenses in the league with a pivotal defensive back, Trent McDuffie. He’s a significant Pro-Bowler with multiple sacks in the course of only four games in the postseason according to AP News. Their records throughout the regular season can be explained as nothing but perfection with almost an undefeated season and the sheer balance Mahomes provides them on offense.
