Seniors Katie Ho and Mayank Mahajan won $2,000 scholarships from the Siemens Foundation for getting perfect scores on nine and 10 AP exams, respectively.
The scholarship is only given to one male and one female student in each state.
“I didn’t expect to get the scholarship,” Ho said. “There are a lot of smart students at TJ, and I knew of a couple of others who were going for it.”
Both seniors plan to use the money to pay for their college tuition.
“The scholarship money is open to be used for any college costs,” Mahajan said. “For me, it will go towards college tuition, which is rising every year.”
