Jefferson’s Show Choir, Sirens, Man Choir and Service Choir performed their winter showcase during eighth period on Friday, Dec. 20. They each performed two songs, some a cappella and some with a piano for background music. Show Choir and Sirens both performed their audition songs for the SingStrong D.C. High School Competition as well as holiday-themed music.

“It was the last day before winter break, so everyone was really excited. We had alumni coming back to watch, which was awesome,” senior Olivia Sullivan, captain of both Show Choir and Sirens, said.

The songs were festive and energetic, which was celebratory for the audience on their last day before winter break.

“I think people liked how fun all of the pieces were,” Sullivan said. “In particular, Sirens has been doing the Holiday Jazz Trio for as long as we I can remember which is a really fun piece.”

Some students went to support their friends in the singing groups, while others just went for a good time.

“It’s really fun to watch everyone sing because each group has its own sort of vibe, and there are people in some groups who aren’t in others,” junior Mikaela Ruiz-Ramon said. “You get to hear everyone sing, and it’s just a lot of fun.”
