Ayesha Khan has been a staff writer for journalism since freshman year. Although she aspires to be a neurologist, from winning speech contests to being featured as an author on an essay magazine, her roots in the humanities dig deep. Khan was featured in the Washington Post newspaper for her volunteering service, in addition to being on the front cover of a national Girl Scouts magazine. Branching off from her scholarly and voluntary pursuits, Khan loves traveling and has been to 15+ countries. Khan’s passion for journalism has taught her that everyone has a story, and she’s helping make tjToday the best online publication!

I talked to students, met the principal, and learned about the rigorous curriculum that will challenge my brain,” Pistun said.

Technology seems to have become a part of people. We use our devices every chance we can get. They’re attached to us, and it has made a big impact on our lives. It messes with both our mental and physical health. With all the work that Jefferson students have to complete, we can’t afford to be distracted by social media and our devices. However, because of how much time everyone has been spending on devices, it’s hard to get away from it now.

The Urban Dance Movement’s performance won first place at TJ’s Got Talent. The participants in the act were seniors AJ Seo, Alice Ji, Elaine Li, and juniors Tiffany Lee, and Sean Kim. Performers stood backstage before and after they are announced for their act. “Our act was the closing act for the event. We were backstage right after our performance, and waited for the award ceremony,” participant AJ Seo said.

Seniors in the DNA lab conduct a wide variety of experiments for their projects. Atal Khawreen, a South County freshman looking to apply to TJ, sees senior research labs as a major draw. “I have seen a few different laboratories at TJ. I think they are really cool, and they will provide me with a lot of opportunities because of all the equipment that is available to you,” Khawreen said.

2022 Class Council senator Melissa Wu and secretary Kyra Li sell pies in Noble Commons between 8th period blocks. Bake sales are a common method for class councils and extracurricular clubs to raise money, “Hosting bake sales is an easy way to make money for clubs and organizations at Jefferson. Students are always hungry, which leads to high profits,” Wu said.
